Following Sprint's footsteps, AT&T has finally released the Android 4.1.2 update for the LG Optimus G.
According to AT&T, the Android Jelly Bean update, which officially launched today, includes a number of improvements and enhancements.
A notable change is the notification display that groups updates of the same app together, allowing the LG Optimus G owner to expand or collapse notifications.
"Customers will also be able to view the full text of an SMS message and the full photo of a MMS in the notification window,' noted AT&T's Cathy O'Shea. "The new Tasks app lets you sync your tasks in Outlook so you always have insight into those important to-do items."
O'Shea added the latest version of the Android mobile operating system would make the LG smartphone easier to use due to harnessing the power of the Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.5GHz Quad-Core Processor.
With the new Jelly Bean update, the LG Optimus G also enables the Isis Mobile Wallet. The free wallet app allows the user to store a virtual version of payments and loyalty cards while organizing offers and deals. Isis Mobile Wallet is currently in trial mode in Austin, Texas and Salt Lake City, Utah. To obtain the wallet from the two cities, customers visit an AT&T store and receive the special SIM card and download the app.
LG Optimus G owners can obtain the update with a Wi-Fi connection. The start the update, pull down the notification panel, select "Settings," "General," "About phone," then "Software Update," followed by "Update now." The device owners should then follow the prompts.
The LG Optimus G smartphone features a screen size of 4.7-inches with a 1,280x768 pixel resolution at 318 pixels per inch, 32GB internal storage with 2GB of RAM, Near Field Communication, rear-facing 13-megapixel camera, front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera, and a 2,100 mAh battery. The handset can operate on 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE networks.
