The Galaxy S4 from Samsung will be one of the most coveted devices to come out this year, and future owners of the smartphone will be happy to know that the phone will come equipped with LoJack security features if a phone is stolen or misplaced. Samsung is teaming up with Absolute Computrace as part of Samsung KNOX in order to offer users the best security available for the device, according to a report by GottaBeMobile.
The security features on the phone will be on a firmware level, meaning that thieves cannot simply do a hard reset on the device so that users will be unable to knock out the users ability to trance or remotely wipe the device, unlike the iPhone's security features. Customers who lose their phone will be able to track the phone remotely, and stolen phones can be recovered with the help of Absolute and local law enforcement.
This technology is focused more on business users, with a personal application for the device still shaping up. Samsung plans on delivering this technology to several different devices besides the Galaxy S4, such as the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. Considering the hundreds of dollars customers can and will pay for these devices, it makes sense that Samsung would invest in better security for the devices.
The Galaxy S4 is set to arrive in late April/early May, with several different retailers already offering preorders for the device. The phone will come with several new features such as gesture and eye recognition, and Android 4.2.2.The Galaxy S4 is expected to compete heavily with the iPhone 5 for shares of the high-end phone market, and with the announcement of these security features, some may consider the Galaxy S4 over the iPhone 5.
