The newest trailer for Thief, the fourth game in the long-running stealth action series, has made its way out. This minute-long clip shows Garrett, the series protagonist, stealing a jewel encrusted necklace from a mansion, and making a dashing getaway through the halls and out a window to avoid the guards.
The trailer shows the beautifully created setting of the game, merely called "The City," and the detail Eidos Montreal has put into the grimy locations and unique characters. Barrett, in particular, looks amazing as he avoids certain death and uses his tools and stealth to his advantage.
The trailer also showed off a few of the gadgets players can expect to use during the game. Barrett comes equipped with standard lock picks, as well as a compound bow that collapses in on itself, a flash grenade, and a grappling hook. The trailer ends with the series game popping up, before a hand pops up out of the smoky background and steals it, and the message "what's yours is mine" replaces it. The trailer ends with the message that the game will be available on the PlayStation 4, PC, and other next generation consoles.
Thief will be a reboot of the popular series, and was first announced after a long dormancy period early last month. The game was first officially announced four years ago, then under the title of Thief 4, but since then, the game has switched to the next generations of consoles, and has become a reboot of the franchise, instead of a continuation of the series.
Not much about the plot is known, except that Garrett must contend with the iron-fisted tyrant "The Baron," while stealing from The City's elite. The game is expected sometime in 2014, though when exactly next year it will come out remains as mysterious as Garrett himself.
