The cast of the "50 Shades of Grey" film has been confirmed! Sheridan Smith and Eddie Redmayne have been chosen to play the innocent, lustful Anastasia Steele and sex-crazed Christian Grey on the big screen. After months of desperately waiting for casting news since Universal Studios announced the summer 2014 movie release target, our prayers have been answered. The wait is over folks. We can finally get some much-needed sleep at night instead of paroozing the internet forums for "50 Shades" casting rumors.

April Fool's! Who didn't see that one coming? Smith did post on her Twitter this morning that she had been cast alongside Redmayne and received a frenzy of responses, but alas, it was yet another cruel April Fool's joke.

"I'm so excited to tell you that I've been cast as the lead girl in 50 shades of grey opposite Eddie Redmayne, can't wait to start filming!!" she wrote. Very funny, Sheridan, very funny. You've toyed the hopes and dreams of "50 Shades'" fans everywhere. I hope you feel good about yourself.

"I'm crying laughing that some of u actually fell for that! Especially amused by @fountain1987 @louiespence & @Ecclestonshire :D love ya's!!!" she later posted.

As great as it would have been to end the "50 Shades" cast speculation craze, it's kind of a relief that Smith and Redmayne won't be playing Ana and Christian. They wouldn't make a good pair on the big screen. They don't have the right look. Other fan-favorite contenders such as Nina Dobrev, Alexis Bledel and Ian Somerhalder, to name just a few, are much better suited for the roles. So, Sheridan, it looks like the joke's on you!

Please excuse the bitterness, it's just that with so much angst towards the current state of the "50 Shades" cast, it's difficult to take such jokes lightly. So congratulations on a successful April Fool's Day gimmick, we can all go home and cry now.
