Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte are getting ready for the 200 meter freestyle semifinals as the second day of the Olympic swimming trials draws near to its end.

During Tuesday's preliminary heats, Lochte once again ended up with the fastest time for the 200-meter freestyle race (Lochte timed 1st in the 400-meter IM a day earlier).

Lochte, the current world champion in this style, timed 1:48.14 against the current world record holder, Michael Phelps, who qualified for third with 1:48.31. Second place belonged to Charlie Houchin who timed 1:47.15.

The 8-day Olympic trials run until July 2 and take place in the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

The swimming trials have already berthed spots for various swimmers in the U.S. Olympic Swimming team including Phelps who gave his opinion of the trials so far earlier today.

"It's not an easy program, but we're going to try to do some things here. The biggest thing is really how I hold up all week. I was definitely happy with getting last night out of the way early. It wasn't the easiest race. But this morning felt pretty comfortable, so hopefully we can just keep everything rolling for the rest of the meet," he said according to Sportingnews.com

TV Schedule
