Arsenal's season has been an utter disappointment with the team failing to make noise in the Champions League, FA Cup, or in the Premier League. Next year's Champions league berth could even be in danger as the team is four points behind fourth place Tottenham and five points removed from third place Chelsea.

The poor performance has also stirred controversy with many questioning whether manager Arsene Wenger could be on his way out. More recently, the coach was put under fire by goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny's father for benching his son in recent matches for Arsenal. However, Szczesny did not respond to the critiques of his coach and Wenger respected his keeper's maturity.

"That (100 appearances) is a huge credit to him, something absolutely fantastic and shows he has a great future," Wenger said of Szczesny. "What is happening to him at the moment is just a normal process of any career - we had (Jens) Lehmann, (David) Seaman, they had their blips and their periods where they were less good, even when they were more experienced than Wojciech."

Regarding Szczesny's willingness to not address his father's comments with the media, Wenger added "I haven't spoken to him (about his father's comments), but I believe he responded very well. There is a not a lot more to say.

"Wojciech has a great future. He is a very young goalkeeper. You do not find very many goalkeepers at his age who have the experience he has already, that is why I believe he has a great future, but he lives in a world where competition exists."

Arsenal can still claim a berth in next year's Champions league if they catch one of the teams above them. They have a prime opportunity to inch closer when they host relegation-side Reading on Saturday.

Predictions: Arsenal wins 2-1.
