Only 12 teams remain in the race to the 2013 NCAA national basketball title as the second half of the Sweet 16 concludes Friday.
Thursday's games saw favorites advance and top seeds fall as No.4 Syracuse defeated No.1-seeded Indiana 61-50 to advance to the Elite Eight. Meanwhile, No.3 Marquette beat No.2 Miami 71-61, the Ohio State Buckeyes edged out the No.6 Arizona Wildcats 73-70 in a nail-biter and No.9 Wichita State ended No.13 La Salle's Cinderella dreams with a 72-58 victory.
Friday brings four matchups with a lot at stake as the No. 12 Oregon look to surge past the Midwest's No.1 Louisville Cardinals, one of only two No.1 seeds remaining in the tournament.
The other, South No.1 Kansas Jayhawks, are looking to get back to the national title game after last year's loss to Kentucky when they take on another college basketball powerhouse, the No.4 Michigan Wolverines, who have blown past South Dakota State and Virginia Commonwealth to get to the Sweet 16.
Then in prime time, the No.3 Seeded Michigan State Spartans, who sent Valparaiso and Memphis home, are in for a high-powered matchup when they clash with the No.2 seeded Duke Blue Devils, who are looking for their fifth national title after plowing past Albany and Creighton.
And in the final match of the night, this year's Cinderella story, the No.15 South seed Florida Gulf Coast Eagles, have been on fire since shocking Georgetown in the second round and beating No.7 San Diego State, are looking to continue their improbable run in the tournament when they take on the South's No.3 Florida Gators, who have eliminated Northwestern State and Minnesota to get here.
