Zlatan Ibrahimovic will get a chance to face his former squad Barcelona in the first leg of the UEFA Champions league Quarter finals.
Ibrahimovic was suspended during the first leg of Paris Saint-Germain's meeting with Valencia in the Champions League and promptly missed the second leg. Paris Saint-Germain appealed the suspension and asked that Ibrahimovic be allowed to return against Barcelona.
UEFA released a statement on Tuesday confirming that the Swedish star would be allowed to return.
"The UEFA appeals body has accepted the appeal lodged by Paris St-Germain against a two-match ban meted out to striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, reducing his suspension to one game," read a post on UEFA's website. "The 31-year-old striker had incurred the original penalty from the UEFA control and disciplinary body after being dismissed in the closing seconds of PSG's 2-1 UEFA Champions League round-of-16 first-leg victory at Valencia on 12 February.
"Following PSG's appeal, the UEFA appeals body has decided to commute that suspension to one match, which Ibrahimovic served in the second leg against Valencia in Paris on 6 March. He will now be available for the French side's quarter-final opener against his old team, Barcelona, on Tuesday."
Paris Saint-Germain is the decided underdog in the match with Barcelona returning to form in their 4-0 blowout win against AC Milan. However, the Parisian squad has been tremendous in the Champions League and won group A before dispatching Valencia; they have the tools to take down Barcelona.
The return of Ibrahimovic instantly improves the team's chances as the striker has the power to keep the Barcelona defense to stay back and out of the play; this in turn limits Blaugrana's passing options.
The first leg will be played on Tuesday April 2 with the return leg taking place on April 10.
