Imangi Studios has released the smash hit game app Temple Run for Microsoft's mobile operating system.

Although Temple Run now has a sequel, available now for the iOS and Android, Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 is offering the original game.

"You've stolen the cursed idol from the temple, and now you have to run for your life to escape the Evil Demon Monkeys nipping at your heels," describes Imangi Studios at the Windows Phone app store. "Test your reflexes as you race down ancient temple walls and along sheer cliffs. Swipe to turn, jump and slide to avoid obstacles, collect coins and buy power ups, unlock new characters, and see how far you can run!"

With the ability to play up to seven characters, Temple Run allow players to simply swipe the screen and tilt the device to control the game.

The game, rated "E" for "Everyone" by the ESRB, requires 23MB of space before downloading. It is only valid for Windows Phone 8 smartphones, such as the Nokia Lumia 920, Nokia Lumia 820, and HTC Windows Phone 8X, to name a few.

The original Temple Run has been downloaded over 170 million times. In January, the sequel was downloaded over 50 million times in 13 days, breaking the previous record set by "Angry Birds Space" in April 2012 when it reached 50 million downloads in 35 days.

"'Temple Run' has evolved into something so much bigger than us," said Imangi Studio co-founder Keith Shepherd. "The game has performed beyond our wildest dreams, and we are thrilled that gamers and fans have embraced 'Temple Run 2' in such a short period of time."
