The "Game of Thrones" actors are accustomed to blood and gore. Killing is commonplace on the hit series, so much so that losing an ear is no worse than stubbing a toe, until it happens off-camera.

Surely enough, that's exactly what happened. A 32-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent for partially biting off the ear of Clive Mantle, who plays Greatjon Umber in "Game of Thrones." The alleged attack took place at a Travelodge in Newcastle, England over a noise dispute, according to BBC News. Mantle rushed to the hospital, where doctors were able to reattach to dismembered portion of his right ear.

A spokesman for Mantel said he was pinned to the floor in the hotel and attacked after asking other guests to keep the noise down.

"He is very shaken and shocked by what has happened, you don't expect this kind of thing to happen in a hotel" his spokesman said. "The part of the ear that was bitten off was found and sewn back on. Mr Mantle said the police, ambulance and hospital staff were amazing."

Ironically, direwolf Grey Wind bit off two of Mantle's fingers in "Game on Thrones." It seems like his extremities are prone to disaster on and off the big screen. Luckily for HBO, the upcoming third season has wrapped shooting and is set to premiere in less than a week. Let's just hope Mantle can recover in time for season four.

On the show, Jon is proud, boisterous, and fierce, and impressed only by those who earn his respect. Instead of becoming angry and turning on the Starks after being attacked by Robb Stark's direwolf, he got to his feet and made a joke of it. Since then he has become one of Robb's strongest supporters.

"Game of Thrones" will return to HBO on Sunday, March 31. Check out a trailer for the thrilling return below.
