It seems the Rivera family cannot figure out what to do with the Jenni Rivera biopic.
Even though the family announced that it was the only entity with control over the long awaited film's production, the singer's brother Lupillo Rivera has gone on record stating that he wanted Angelica Vale to play La Diva de La Banda.
When asked who he thought would be best to play his sister, Lupillo stated that he liked Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Machado and Angelica Vale. However, when he said Vale, he stated "Wow!," and said it would be an honor.
The singer also said that he was against his family being involved in the film. He stated that he wanted a big studio to produce it but did not want to participate in the process. He added that the Rivera family had no idea what it was to produce, act or direct a film.
Over the last few weeks controversy over the Rivera film has made headlines. The family has claimed that they are the only ones with the rights to make a movie on the singer after director Francisco Joel Mendoza announced he was starting production on a biopic in April. Mendoza then went on the Univision program "EL Gordo y La Flaca" and stated that the family's planned movie will be a fiasco even if it has the best stars in Hollywood and Mexico.
The two parties have since attacked each other through press releases with no news on when the movie will go into production.
At the moment, the Rivera family plans on releasing Jenni's English album which was recorded but never released. A concert movie is also scheduled for release in July and the third season of Rivera's reality TV show "I Love Jenni," will premiere on April 14 on Mun2. The series will show footage of Rivera shot a month before her fatal death.
