Hideo Kojima has always been a secretive man. The current topic of discussion regarding the gaming wizard is the upcoming "Metal Gear Solid 5" and "Ground Zeroes." No substantial information has been revealed about the title, but a great deal has been rumored about the upcoming title "The Phantom Pain." Ever since its debut last fall, fans have continually sought out ways to connect "Phantom Pain" with the "Metal Gear Solid" series; Kojima has turned down the ideas despite suggestive evidence.
However, Kojima recently took to Twitter to make a few strange notices to his fan base. In his first message, Kojima tweeted, "Currently I'm working on the challenge (which I'm going to announce at GDC) on the production procedure over FOX engine. I strongly believe making the artificial waxwork look real or lively and making real person's expression ASAP over CG share much of common."
He added, "Concept of 'FOX Engine' is photorealism. I think the era of sticking to graphic or sound is over. How you freely play, connect to Internet, pleasantly play is the important point but at the same time min level of realism is needed still We at KJP aim making look like in real even when looking at reduced game screen for the simple model."
He added another tweet in which he pondered on which platform would win and "Which company we shall strengthen our relationship?"
The final tweet was the most suggestive of all and really increased buzz about the forth coming titles. Kojima published a picture (seen above) which credits him as Producer/Game Designer/Director. It is an editing screen for a trailer with the title "TPP_GDC2013_720p_ESRB". "TPP" could be "The Phantom Pain." More importantly, the worlds "GDC2013" are also included in the image; according to Playstation Universe, "The Phantom Pain" is supposed to have a new trailer debut at GDC next week.
If this is in fact the upcoming "Phantom Pain" trailer, then speculation of Kojima's involvement could finally come to an end. However, the question will linger: Is "Phantom Pain" the title for "Metal Gear Solid 5?" Or is it the "Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes?" Or is it simply another Kojima project all together? The moment of truth seems to be coming ever closer.
