Earlier today at the PAX East gaming expo, Capcom officially confirmed that a new Mega Man title is on the way.

Capcom didn't give much else away, with their Community Manager Bret Elston stating that the company was "not ready" to reveal the game yet. Even with the relative lack of information, this is still great news for fans of the series, especially since just last week Neowiz announced that they had cancelled Mega Man Online.

In 2011, Capcom had put a stop to two additional Mega Man games, Mega Man Legends 3 and Mega Man Universe, putting together a trifecta of disappointments for fans. Late last year though, Capcom senior vice president Christian Svensson went on the record stating, "I can say with certainty that you've not seen the last of the Blue Bomber on consoles and handhelds, and, with luck, we'll be celebrating his 50th anniversary, including all of the games you're going to enjoy over the next 25 years."

It looks like this new mystery Mega Man game might be what he was hinting at in 2012.

The last Mega Man title to be released was Rockman Xover, which was released exclusively for iPhones and iPads. The game was launched on November 29, 2012 in Japan; but due to a very negative reaction from fans and critics, the game was never brought to North America. With any luck, this next Capcom game will be the Mega Man fans have been waiting for.
