Windows Phone 7.8 is no Windows Phone 8, but new updates will give device owners photography tools comparable to Microsoft's latest mobile platform.
Cinemagraph is rolling out for Nokia Lumia 710, Lumia 800, and Lumia 900 smartphones. Meanwhile, Camera Extras gives Lumia owners Smart Shoot, similar to Windows Phone 8. The Cinemagraph app, exclusive to Nokia Lumia smartphones, gives photographs a blend of photo and movie-like animation.
"Helpful on-screen assistance lets you select the animated area of your picture and easily create an animated GIF," NokNok noted.
Nokia will add a version of Cinemagraph to Lumia 510 and Lumia 610, although it will run with a reduced 246MB of RAM. The launch date for Cinemagraph for the Lumia 510 and Lumia 610 is "in the coming weeks."
As for Camera Extras, version 2.0.0.8 began to rollout in the U.K. and will soon spread throughout Europe.
"Smart Shoot uses burst mode to take a sequence of photos so you can choose your favourite shot and then remove unwanted moving objects," NokNok added.
The Windows Phone 7.8 version of Smart Shoot will include an improved interface and resemble the Smart Shoot seen in Windows Phone 8.
The updates come after it was reported Microsoft will ease on providing updates for Windows Phone 7.8 and Windows Phone 8 during the summer of 2014.
According to Microsoft, Windows Phone 7.8's mainstream support end date is Sept. 9, 2014 while the Windows Phone 8 platform will end approximately two months prior on July 8, 2014.
