A rumor has begun circulating that the newest edition of the Battlefield series will have 64-player maps on the PlayStation 4 version of the game. Battlefield 4 Central reports that a reliable source claims that console version of the game will be receiving 64-player maps for multiplayer games, something only PC users were able to use on Battlefield 3.
In addition, several new details have emerged about the game from the source. The game will have "lots" of DLC planned for the game, and Battlefield Premium will be available at launch. Three factions are reported to be in the game, America, Russia, and an unnamed Eastern/Asian faction. Battlelog will be updated with more features, and may be linked with Battlefield 3 as well.
The news about the larger maps certainly is exciting, as PlayStation 3 users had to settle for smaller maps than PC users. With the raw power of the PlayStation 4 at their disposal, the Battlefield team certainly should be able to expand the playing field gamers play on.
This is still in the rumor column for the game at this point, but the game's official unveiling is not far off. The game will be appearing March 26 at a special event in San Francisco. The game is confirmed only for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Until then, nothing can be confirmed or ruled out about the upcoming blockbuster title. Battlefield games are known for their massive scope and multiplayer mayhem, so having 64 players fighting it out would certainly be in the range of possibilities for the new game. Check back with us later this month to see if any of the Battlefield 4 rumors are true.
