On Saturday, Newark, NJ Mayor Cory Booker announced that he will participat in Reddit's "Ask Me Anything" (AMA) session on Sunday, March 17 starting at 7 p.m.
"Looking forward to my @reddit AMA "Ask Me Anything" tomorrow @ 7pm ET! https://wayw.re/15SwVsn #RedditAMA," tweeted the New Jersey politician Saturday afternoon.
The social media savvy mayor is renowned for being an active tweeter, making "off-message" comments and pulling superhero-like stunts--last year he rescued his neighbor from a burning building and in January he saved a dog from freezing to death. Now, the nationally known politician will answer uncensored questions via Reddit.com, a social news website that offers users an opportunity to interact in public online forums.
The Democratic elected official participated in an AMA session last year in which he received hundreds of questions and answered 20 within an hour. The questions ranged from his thoughts on Republican NJ Governor Chris Christie, the war on drugs, his superhero status and the controversial comment he made during an appearance on "Meet The Press," when he declared that Democrats should "stop attacking private equity."
"I felt it important on 'Meet The Press' to express...that all private equity isn't bad," Booker wrote on Reddit. "I will not be one of those people who vilifies or paints a broad brush on an entire industry." Though he praised the Obama campaign's examination of Romney's private sector record, he said that he objected to "people pivoting from a fair examination of the facts to misrepresentations of an industry or firm."
On Gov. Christie, he wrote, "I could write a dissertation on our disagreements" and on the topic of the war on drugs he said "it represents big overgrown government at its worst."
Other celebrities and politicians who have participated in AMA include MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, Arnold Schwarzenagger and Congressman Darrell Issa.
