EA has officially confirmed that it will be revealing Battlefield 4 at this month's Game Developer Conference in San Francisco.

The unveiling event will take place on March 26th at an unnamed movie theater. It will be invitation only.

It was previously confirmed that EA plans to release the game on next-gen consoles. Last month, EA Labels President Frank Gibeau also revealed that the game had already been demoed behind closed doors.

"We've been investing and innovating on new technology for months. Console partners who have seen our early work agree, EA's next-gen software is nothing short of astonishing. At a GameStop company meeting earlier this week, we gave 500 store managers a sneak peak [sic] at Battlefield 4," said Gibeau. "The game received a huge ovation and thousands of fans reacted to a single enthusiastic Tweet by GameStop's CEO."

Additionally, at a panel at GDC Europe, DICE's Karl Magnus Troedsson confirmed the game would retain its predecessor's modern setting.

Battlefield 4 will be the thirteenth installment in the series. It is likely being targeted for a 2014 release. The previous entry in the series, Battlefield 3, was developed by EA Digital Illusions CE and released in 2011 for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

So far, there has been no recent news on future installments in EA's other Battlefield series, Bad Company.
