Following a suspension, Microsoft is rolling out a Windows Phone 7.8 update.
As Latinos Post reported on earlier this week, Microsoft had initially suspended plans for the Windows Phone 7.8 update, which would have helped Nokia Lumia devices 610, 710, 800, and 900 among a few.
According to Omio, Nokia UK Communications Senior Manager Ray Haddow provided a statement in regards to the suspension, stating, "Microsoft has identified a minor issue in the Windows Phone 7.8 update and have temporarily paused delivery until it's addressed. We'll have more information as it becomes available."
Now, it appears Microsoft made a 180 and is rolling out the update again. The update ups the build from 8858 to 8860. An additional build to 8862 is also making the rounds.
As widely expected, the update comes with the Live Tiles fix, an issue Latinos Post has previously mentioned.
According to Microsoft, the update, formally known as "Update 7.10.8862.144," includes the following improvements or enhancements:
- Start: Provides resizable small, medium, and large Live Tiles so you can customize your Start experience in new ways.
- Accent colors: Expands the number of available accent colors to 20.
- Lock screen: Improves the lock screen experience with accidental wipe protection features and the Bing image of the day wallpaper.
- Marketplace and Xbox: Expands Windows Phone Marketplace and Xbox support to new countries and regions.
- Fonts: Enhances the Chinese font and improves the appearance of Arabic and other languages.
- Live Tiles: Fixes performance issues from a previous update
The Windows Phone 7.8 update has been considered as a step towards the Windows Phone 8 platform. The update is slowly making its way to users as it has first been reported in European countries such as Italy.
