Seven straight 30-win seasons. A career .915 save percentage and 2.58 goals against average. Three playoff berths. One Vezina Trophy victory. Goaltender Ryan Miller's achievements over the last decade have been tremendous for the Buffalo Sabres. But it seems that his "days are numbered" according to one report.

Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos broke the news on Tuesday during the intermission of the Canucks-Blue Jackets match. If the Sabres are intent on moving their franchise keeper, it represents a shift in the team's philosophy and attitude.

Throughout the last few years, Miller has been the cornerstone to the team's success. Even as the team continues to struggle in 2012-13, Miller is one of the only players that has put up a consistently good performance night in and night out.

The move would be a curious one. Miller is 32 and slowly shifting out of his prime and into years of regression. A contender is likely secure in goal and his age could scare away a rebuilding squad that is unwilling to move major prospects for a quick fix in goal. Regardless, Miller's quality is undeniable and his trade would likely include a major return for Buffalo.

Aside from his age, the Sabres will need to convince other teams to accept Millers large $6.25 million cap hit until the end of the 2013-14 and this alone could postpone any hopes of a deal until the summer or next season.

Backup Jonas Enroth has shown that he can carry a solid load for the Sabres and the team might feel that it is time to engage in a full-fledged rebuild after failing to make the playoffs. Heading into Friday the Sabres have 23 points and are seven points out of a playoff spot.
