"Star Wars Episode 7" is the most hotly anticipated film of the next few years and it seems that every working actor wants a chance to be in the upcoming series installment. Original trilogy stars Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Peter Mayhew and Frank Oz have made statements declaring their interest and prequel trilogy actors Ewan McGregor and Samuel L. Jackson have also professed interest. However, actors that have not worked on the films have also made their interest known including Keri Russell and Olivia Munn. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is the latest actor to profess his desire to be in "Star Wars."
"I'm gonna call J.J. and you're gonna help by printing it and I'm gonna be in Star Wars! I'm ready for Star Wars. Bring it on, J.J.!," he stated during an interview with News Unlimited.
Actress Olivia Munn has also mentioned her desire to be in the upcoming Star Wars movies. "I'd do anything on Star Wars, even craft service," she stated. The response was echoed by Keri Russell a few weeks earlier when she stated that she would "do anything for [director J.J. Abrams]. I would do crafts services if he asked!"
There are no confirmed casting choices for the film, but George Lucas has stated that original cast member Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Fisher are already signed. "We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison -- or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation. So I called them to say, 'Look, this is what's going on," Lucas said during an interview with Bloomberg's business week."Maybe I'm not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them. I won't say whether the negotiations were successful or not."
The film is slated for a tentative 2015 release date with JJ Abrams at the helm and Michael Arndt as the scribe.
