Volkswagen unveiled the 2015 GTI at the Geneva auto show that is largely inspired by the 2015 Golf.

The newest GTI model sits on an all-new MQB front-drive architecture and features styling cues from the Golf.

And the debut of the 2015 GTI revealed that the production model is not too far off from the concept rendition of the vehicle that was unveiled in Paris last year.

But with a new body kit, the latest generation GTI, definitely emanates a more aggressive road presence with large front intakes, rear diffuser, rear spoiler, smoked taillight covers, red brake calipers, a sportier suspension and dual exhaust.

As far as performance enhancements go for the 2015 GTI, there are some significant changes to the powertrain.

A turbocharged 2.0-liter direct-injected four-cylinder engine lives under the hood of the new GTI and pumps out 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, an increase of 20 horsepower and 51 pound-feet of torque from its American predecessor.

There will also be a performance package offered by the automaker for the first time that will increase the horsepower to 230, along with the addition of a real mechanical limited-slip and bigger brakes that feature 13.4-inch front rotors and 12.2-inch vented rears.

The 2015 GTI will be offered in only three color options, including tornado red, black and pure white.
