The Samsung Galaxy S4 will have floating touch technology as well as an eco-friendly PHOLED display, according to unnamed sources within the company.

"The Galaxy S IV is going to have floating touch technology, previously used by Sony inside the XPERIA Sola," says SamMobile.

The tech allows users to navigate without actually touching the screen. "Much like an S-Pen, say you were in your device's gallery and instead of tapping on a folder of pictures and videos to open and view them, you could simple hover your finger above the folder and be shown previews for each file inside," writes Droid Life. The feature is similar to Samsung's AirView, used in the Galaxy Note's S pen stylus.

In addition, "Samsung's Galaxy S4 will be their first device to feature a full 1080p AMOLED display, but the new screen will be different on more than just the surface," writes Phandroid.

"A new report says Samsung is utilizing a new AMOLED technology called Green PHOLED to produced a display that is 25 percent more battery efficient than previous Super AMOLED formats. The new display utilizes phosphorescence (hence the PHOLED name) over fluorescence to achieve its lower power draw, an element that could go a long way in adding to the Galaxy S4′s battery life."

If true, the Galaxy S4's lower power consumption could make it not only more environmentally friendly but also more convenient for users who don't want to have to charge daily.

Of course, none of the rumors have been confirmed, and Samsung is happy to let speculation run rampant ahead of next week's huge launch event in New York's Times Square on Mar. 14. Check back for the latest information as it becomes available.
