More unnamed sources dropping a release date for the BlackBerry Z10, this time from Bloomberg.
"BlackBerry's new Z10 device will go on sale with AT&T Inc. on March 22 as the Canadian smartphone maker seeks a sales recovery in its biggest market, according to two people familiar with the plan. The touch-screen phone will begin appearing in U.S. stores that day, said the people, who asked not to be named because no release date has been announced."
This new rumor runs contrary to rumors from yesterday saying the Z10 would be available through AT&T on Mar. 15.
AT&T has been vying with T-Mobile to be the first carrier to bring the Z10 to the United States.
Currently, rumors say T-Mobile business customers might be able to preorder the Z10 on Mar. 11, with delivery by the 13th, but that the phone wouldn't be available to the general public through T-Mobile until Mar. 27.
If true, even a delay to the 22nd would mean AT&T could claim it was the first carrier to offer the Z10 in wide release.
Sprint has already stated that it won't carry the Z10 at all, though it has committed to offering the QWERTY keyboard-equipped BlackBerry Z10 when that phone is released in a few months.
Verizon will carry both the Z10 and the Q10, but it has ceded bragging rights to the other carriers; it won't have a Z10 model available until late this month.
BlackBerry has not yet released any sales figures for the Z10, though its fourth quarter earnings report is due out on Mar. 28. Is it possible BlackBerry wants the Z10 released on all the carriers in the United States before it announces it numbers?
Sales estimates for the phone have been inconsistent, though that could be due to the frenetic nature of economic analysts rather than any real world fluctuations.
