Angelica Vale has confirmed that she will not play the role of Jenni Rivera in the rumored biopic on the recently deceased singer.
The actress told Televisa that she had never been in contact with the producers of the film. She also added that her mother Angelica Maria had never confirmed her participation. Vale said that she believes the best candidate to play "La Diva de la Banda" is her daughter Janney "Chiquis" Marin. She added that if they ever made a movie about her legendary mother she would love to portray her.
This is the second time Vale denies the rumors of her involvement in the Rivera project. In January she stated that she had never been contacted by the film's producers, but if she got the role it would be a marvelous experience. She also joked that her body was more appropriate for the role than Jennifer Lopez who is also rumored to play the role.
Ever since January rumors about a Rivera biopic have surfaced in the media. Model/Actress Alicia Machado was also rumored for the role but has not commented thus far.
The movie was also speculated to be produced by Lopez. The Singer/Actress stated that she believed that Rivera's life should be given a Hollywood treatment like Selena. Rivera's sister Rosie also confirmed that she had met with Lopez about the project and stated that Nuyorican productions would produce and finance. However, Lopez later denied any involvement.
A concert movie is scheduled for release in July but there is no word on the biopic. The third season of Rivera's reality TV show "I Love Jenni," will premiere on April 14 on Mun2. The series will show footage of Rivera shot a month before her fatal death. There is also a RIvera English album slated to be released later this year.
