Temple Run, the popular mobile game, now has a spin off based on the new movie Oz: the Great and Powerful. Temple Run: Oz features a brand new Dark Forest environment, along with unique hot air balloon sequences that feature tilt controls. Players can buy the game for 99 cents at the Apple App store or at Google Play.
This is the second Disney-themed spin off of the Temple Run series. Imangi also created a version of the game mixed with the movie Brave, which jumped to the top of the paid app charts when it was released.
Besides the new setting and the hot air balloon sections, this is still the game basic Temple Run game that fans can expect. Players guide their character (in this case, it is the Wizard of Oz, a.k.a. James Franco) as he navigates through a treacherous pathway chased by flying monkeys. Players collect coins and powerups as they run through the game, trying to get the best score possible. Players swipe the screen to navigate the path, as well as avoid obstacles and collect coins.
If Temple Run: Oz sounds a little bit too much like the other Temple Run games, well... it is, because it pretty much is the exact same game as the others. While the gameplay is addicting (judging by the millions upon millions of people who have played the games), the game does very little to warrant spending 99 cents on it. With Temple Run One and Two available for free, you have to really be a fan of Oz (or James Franco) to want to play the game.
Temple Run" Oz is not a bad game, but does not feel necessary compared to the free versions of the series available.
You can download the game at the Apple Store or at Google Play now.
