Today marks the final day that PlayStation 3 owners can purchase the Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim DLC package Dawnguard for 50 percent off the regular price.
As previously reported, PlayStation 3 owners have had to wait patiently for Skyrim DLC. Once each of the three packages came out (Dragonborn, Dawnguard, and Heartfire), gamers were able to purchase these DLC packages for 50 percent off for during the first week each individual package went on sale at the PSN store. Dawnguard came out on Feb. 26, Heartfire released Feb. 19th, and Dragonborn was released Feb. 12.
Each DLC package was released to positive reviews from critics and players, but the DLCs' road to the PlayStation 3 was rocky, to say the least. Indeed, people within Bethesda doubted that the games could be brought successfully over to the system. While Xbox 360 owners have been able to enjoy the DLC of the game for months (Dawnguard was released for the system last June), PlayStation 3 owners had to wait until the new year to even get confirmation that the three DLC packages would arrive on the system. As a way of saying thank you for the fan's patience, Bethesda offered each DLC package at a discounted price for a limited time.
With all three previously available DLC packages released for the PlayStation 3, Bethesda can now focus on future DLC they have in the works. The rumored "Redguard" is in the works, and here is to hoping that PlayStation 3 owners will not have to wait months before being able to download the DLC. But for now, PlayStation 3 owners can be content with being done playing catch up to their Xbox 360 and PC counterparts.
