The Red Raiders (10-17) will take on the No.4 Jayhawks (25-4) in Kansas, Monday night, in what TTU fans will hope fairs better than the last outing.
The last time these two teams met it ended in a 60-46 victory for the Jayhawks in Lubbock, Texas. Kevin Young led the way for Kansas in what Bill Self felt was a lackluster performance by his highly touted squad.
TTU is coming off a win over TCU to snap a six-game losing streak, but I just don't see it being enough to win one on the road, as they're a meager (1-7) on such occasions.
Good news for Jayhawks fans.
Finally coming out of a bit of a slump is McLemore, Kansas' leader with 16.6 points per game, averaged 9.3 and 32.1 percent shooting in three games before breaking Danny Manning's one-game freshman scoring record in a 91-65 rout of West Virginia on Saturday. McLemore scored 36 and shot 12 of 15 to help the Jayhawks (25-4, 13-3) remain tied atop the Big 12 with Kansas State while recording a sixth straight win.
"It's good to see because Ben has labored lately and he's been a different guy for us most nights," coach Bill Self said. "Certainly, we look forward to hopefully having an aggressive McLemore the rest of the way."
They'll need him, that's for sure. With Kansas State so tightly on their heels, the boys from Lawrence know they need to win out the rest of the schedule to keep a firm grip on the conference title, as well as get a stronger footing and seeding in the tournament.
Prediction
Kevin Young and Jeff Withey prove too much on the boards and in effort as they grind out a win even if McLemore hasn't fully come out of his slump.
