The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker is easily the most anticipated Wii U game of 2013. The idea of an HD remake and new additions has created a great deal of buzz and conversation. A number of pundits have published wish lists in which they denote how the remake can improve upon the 2002 Gamecube classic.

Galleon News purports that the title is ideal for a remake and notes that one of the first ways to improve the title is to bring back a number of the segments that were cut from the original Gamecube version. "The remake could well include these "lost segments" thus ending most people's problems with the fact that the game was too short," writes Galleon News' Ewan Moore.

Daniel Duncan of Zelda themed site "Want Midna Back" supports this idea and adds, "Nintendo was originally planning to include a dungeon to go along with the retrieval of Nayru's Pearl... Unfortunately, its design was abandoned due to time constraints and we were left with a simple boss battle and a conversation with Jabun, the descendant of Ocarina of Time's Lord Jabu-Jabu. But now, with this remake coming this Holiday season, I believe Nintendo will have plenty of time to have a dungeon prepared and fully developed so that we may retrieve Nayru's Pearl with the proper challenge we deserve!"

IGN's Lucas Thomas notes that there were two dungeons (including Jabun) that were left out. Thomas asserts that reinstating the two dungeons would be a major way of improving the title.

The three publications also agree that the new title should include a new control scheme for the new console.  Moore mentions bringing in motion controls while Duncan emphasizes the GamePad's built-in gyroscopic technology. "It would be more intuitive to simply aim the controller at the TV screen and snap a picture," Duncan writes.  Thomas agrees about using the GamePad for photographs, but also suggests a more expansive control experience. "Link's weapons and items menu should be displayed on the touchscreen, allowing quick screen-tapping swaps to whichever piece of equipment the current situation requires, without the need to bring up a pause screen each time. Off-TV Play should be supported, giving us nearly the functional equivalent of our first portable GameCube game," he adds.

Both Thomas and Duncan made note that the sailing needs to be fixed so that it is not as lengthy and repetitive as in the first iteration. Duncan suggests that Nintendo fix it by "either including a new function to the Wind Waker itself or perhaps finding/receiving a magical trinket early in the game that would allow you to sail at faster speeds."

No official word has been given by Nintendo on when the title will launch, but it is expected to release this fall.
