Warner Bros. has set the date to Wally Pfister's directional debut "Transcendence" starring Johnny Depp.

The film will be released on April 25, 2014. Director Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas and Aaron Ryder are set to produce the film with Alcon Entertaiment financing the film. Plot details have not yet been released, as it is being kept secret. However, it was stated earlier that it revolves around an assassinated scientist who gets his brain uploaded to a computer.

Pfister was the cinematographer to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight series. He was nominated for the Academy Award for his work on "The Prestige," "Batman Begins," "The Dark Knight" and won for "Inception." He also worked on Bennett Miller's "Moneyball" and "The Italian Job." Pfister recently hit headlines when he bad mouthed Marvels' The Avengers stating that the film was "Apalling." He stated "They'd shoot from some odd angle and I'd think, why is the camera there? Oh, I see, because they spent half a million on the set and they have to show it off. It took me completely out of the movie. I was driven bonkers by that illogical form of storytelling."

Nolan last directed "The Dark Knight Rises" and recently announced in October that he would direct "Interstellar," a movie that Steven Spielberg was set to direct. Cast has not been revealed up to this point. He is currently producing Zach Synder's "Man of Steel" which he helped write the story for.

Depp was last seen in Tim Burton's film "Dark Shadows" He later made an appearance in "Family Guy" and presented at the Grammy awards. The thespian will next be seen this summer as Tonto in Gore Verrbinski's "The Lone Ranger." He is also set to star in Barry Levinson's next film "Black Mass" and will reprise the role of Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean 5."

"Transecendance" will begin shooting in April and also stars Paul Bettany.
