Hideo Kojima, known for his exceptional work with the Metal Gear Solid series, is very excited to be able to work with the PlayStation 4. In an interview with IGN, Kojima states that, while impressed with the power the PlayStation 4 will have, he is more interested in the aspects of the system that will change the way gamers play their favorite games:
"But what I'm really more interested in is other ways of expanding into the next generation - a more horizontal expansion, where you're going to be doing things online, more of a social aspect. People will be able to interact with the game through various devices, through various media - such as tablets, smart phones, etc," Kojima said.
While gamers have been able to share with each other before, the PlayStation 4 will feature a share button, allowing players to share with their friends with the push of the button. Kojima feels this sort of player interaction is just what is needed for the latest game in the Metal Gear Solid franchise.
"I think it's this new type of interaction - this new way of interacting with the game world - that's more exciting to me. And I want to bring the Metal Gear franchise into that new wider world of interaction."
Kojima, long known for his innovative and avant-garde sensibilities, is a good spokesman for the new system, considering his abilities to push gaming boundaries and get the absolute best out of a system. Recently, he claimed his newest game, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, will possibly face controversy regarding breaking taboos, and may face restrictions. While that game does not have a release date yet, the PlayStation 4 is expected out by the end of the year.
