Tony award winner Christine Ebersole and Cheyenne Jackson will announce the Tony award nominations.
Ebersole posted on composer Marc Shaiman's facebook page, "I am writing to you from the set of Smash! I am playing a character named 'Christine Ebersole, announcing the Tony nominations with Cheyenne Jackson."
Ebersole and Jackson are among the slew of Broadway stars that will appear this season on NBC's musical dramedy, "Smash." Others include Lin-Manuel Miranda, Montego Glover, Carolee Carmello, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Jesse L. Martin, Liza Minnelli, Bernadette Peters, Rosie O'Donnell, Sheryl Lee Ralph, John Robin Baitz, Kathy Fitzgerald, Julian Ovenden, Jason Kravitz, Manny Herrera, and Veanne Cox.
Ebersole has won two Tony awards for her work on "42nd Street" in 2001 and for "Grey Gardens" in 2007. She was also nominated for "Dinner at Eight." She will soon be seen in "Sullivan and Son" on TBS and in the upcoming film "The Big Wedding with Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro, Susan Sarandon, Robin Williams and Amanda Seyfried. Ebersole will also continue touring her Cabaret show throughout the US.
Jackson recently starred in "One Night Stand" with Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Rachel Dratch, Tracie Thoms and Alicia Witt. The film premiered at the Austin and Nashville Film Festival and won numerous awards. He also released his third single "Don't Wanna Know" and filmed a music video for the song. Jackson recently wrapped "The Performers" on Broadway and performed "Music of the Mad Men Era" at the Kennedy Center on New Year's Eve.
Since 1967 the Tony awards have honored the best in Broadway in both plays and musicals. Last year's winners included "Once" for Best Musical and "Clybourne Park" for Best Play. Arthur Miller's "Death of Salesman" and "Newies" were also among the winners. The Tony's will be broadcast live on CBS in June.
Smash airs at 10pm on NBC.
