Despite rumors of a processor downgrade, it looks like the Samsung Galaxy S4 will still be the fastest phone on the market - at least when it comes to browsing the internet.

That's if the latest leaked benchmarks are actually the Galaxy S IV.

"The Galaxy S4 is not even official and it looks like it has already crawled atop of the Browsermark 2.0 browser benchmark. According to RightWare, a GT-I9500 device - which everyone seems to agree it's the model number of the Galaxy S4 -- running Build JOP40D (or Android 4.2.1) and Mobile Google Chrome 25 managed to score 2710 in testing thus beating all other smartphones out there," writes Android Authority.

"Phone GT-I9500 Build/JOP40D with Mobile Google Chrome 25 score was: 2710
Phone GT-I9500 Build/JOP40D with Mobile Google Chrome 25 browser is superior to 99% of all Phone browsers," said RightWare.

The purported Galaxy S IV now sits atop RightWare's Browsermark Power Board.

The "GT-19500" currently clocks in at 2540.35. Next is Apple's iPhone 5, with a 2416.34. After that is the AT&T version of the Galaxy S III, with 2359.17.

Then comes a stock model Galaxy S III at 2343.56, and a Sony Xperia GX LT29i rounds out the top five with a 2332.08.

Of course there's no way to confirm whether the top phone really is the Galaxy S IV. Samsung is perfectly happy to let speculation about the phone's specs and performance run rampant, garnering the company plenty of free press in the weeks ahead of the phone's official unveiling on Mar. 14.

Recent rumors say Samsung's own Exynos 5 eight-core chipset won't make it into American version of the phone, so it's likely that all the specs aren't finalized yet, and there's no word on exactly what configuration of the mystery phone was used for the benchmark test, so check back for more information as it becomes available.
