Yesterday, It was widely reported that Ubisoft is developing a potential new entry into the Assassin's Creed series, entitled Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Today,we've got more news on that front, as we've stumbled across a report from The Examiner, which shows off the first screenshots of the game. This development builds off the original story reported by Kotaku, which showed a poster that allegedly shows off the new game's title, with a new assassin surrounded by pirates.
The Examiner also claims that the new character is Edward Kenway, father of Assassin's Creed 3's own Haytham Kenway. If this is true, then it all but confirms that the new game would take place in roughly the same time period of the previous games in the series, Assassin's Creed 3 and Assassin's Creed: Liberation.
It must be pointed out, however, that nothing is confirmed at the moment by Ubisoft, so this is all rumor at this point. But with more information trickling in about Black Flag coming in, it appears more certain that this will be the newest edition of the series. Ubisoft has confirmed that there will be a new Assassin's Creed game, and it would feature a new protagonist and setting.
Also in the works is a report that there is supposed to be a Ubisoft meeting about the game scheduled for today, Feb. 27. It would not be a huge leap for the series to go into a pirate themed direction, as the previous games in the series had naval-themed levels and missions. With this meeting supposed to be happening today, it will be interesting to see what happens in regards to this news.
