David Beckham will make his first start for Paris Saint-Germain when the club faces off against Marseille in the Cup de France on Wednesday afternoon.
Beckham made his first appearance in the second half of Paris Saint-Germain's 2-0 win over Marseille on Sunday.
"He will start tomorrow. Beckham can play the whole match," Manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed during a press conference. "
Ancelotti added, ""He will play instead of Verratti. This is an important position on the field, it will help the team in building the game and have good positioning. He can play a whole game."
Despite being 37-years old, Beckham helped his former club the Los Angeles Galaxy to an MLS Cup victory this past fall. After announcing his retirement from Los Angeles, Beckham was reportedly offered the opportunity to manage new MLS expansion clubs. However, Beckham ultimately opted for making the move to PSG.
Paris Saint-Germain entered the Cup de France in the ninth round and defeated Arras 4-3. In the round of 32, PSG managed a 3-1 win with goals from Javier Pastore, Ezequiel Lavezzi, and Kevin Gaimero.
Marseille won its ninth round match with Guingamp 2-1 and had its game with Rouen postponed in the Round of 32. Marseille currently sits in third place in the French league with 14 wins, four draws, and eight losses. Their 46 points are eight behind first place Paris Saint-Germain; PSG has compiled a record of 16 wins, six draws, and four losses.
These two teams faced off on Oct.7 and drew 2-2. On Sunday, PSG took home a 2-0 win over Marseille.
