The Tomb Raider reboot from Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix is out Mar. 5, and a new trailer demonstrates Lara Croft's survival combat options.

This is the third trailer in the Guide to Survival series. The first two detailed Croft's resourcefulness and exploration options for player sin the game. This trailer is titled "Survival Combat," and focuses on the at-times brutal ways Croft can kill her enemies.

In Tomb Raider, Lara Croft is stranded on an island, with many of her crewmates taken captive by hostile scavengers. Outnumbered and outgunned, she must rely on weapons and materials she finds on the island, while honing her hand-to-hand skills.

Stealth is her primary advantage, and the combat system allows her to use her longbow to execute silent kills from a distance. Silent kills also factor heavily in melee combat, allowing her to take out a series on enemies in succession without attracting all of them at once.

Combat skills Croft can learn include Dirty Tricks, which lets her fling dirt in an opponent's eyes, counter melee attacks, fight up close with arrows, attack with her climbing axe or increase her pain tolerance.

Croft can also utilize elements of the environment, like exploding lanterns or barrels to take out multiple enemies or push enemies off cliffs, but enemies can also use these features. The computer's AI allows enemies to take cover behind obstacles or flank Croft when she is outnumbered.

She can also scavenge weapon parts and use them to upgrade her longbow, pistols, shotgun or machine gun with padded stocks or better barrels.

Tomb Raider is available next week. Check back for more updates and reviews of the game soon.
