On Feb. 24 the 85th Annual Academy Awards, now known simply as the Oscars, will be held at the Dolby Theatre.
The show will be hosted by "Ted" star Seth McFarlane and will feature live performances by Adele, Shirley Bassey, Norah Jones, Jennifer Hudson, Catherine Zeta Jones, Richard Gere, Queen Latifah, Barbara Streisand, and Hugh Jackman. There will also be a special 50th anniversary recognition of the "James Bond" movie franchise.
The films nominated for Best Picture are "Argo," "Amour," "Beasts of the Southern Wild," "Django Unchained," "Life of Pi," "Lincoln," "Les Miserables," "Silver Linings Playbook" and "Zero Dark Thirty."
Other films nominated for major awards include "The Master," "The Sessions," "Flight," "Anna Karenina" and "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey."
The directors nominated are Michael Haneke ("Amour"), Steven Spielberg ("Lincoln"), Ang Lee ("Life of Pi"), Ben Zeitlin ("Beasts of the Southern Wild") and David O. Russell ("Silver Linings Playbook").
Among the stars expected to grace the red carpet are Salma Hayek, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Daniel Day-Lewis, Rene Zellweger, Meryl Streep, Octavia Spencer, Jean Dujardin, Christopher Plummer, Ben Affleck, Anne Hathaway, Christoph Waltz, Sally Field, Jacki Weaver, Robert De Nero, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jessica Chastain.
Presenters include Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, Mark Wahlberg and the character of Ted. Sandra Bullock, Halle Berry, Kerry Washington, Paul Rudd, Jaime Foxx, Jack Nicolson and Melissa McCarthy will also present.
