One Direction will release the music video for their version of Blondie's "One Way or Another" on Thursday. The British boy band has been releasing daily teaser videos on their offical YouTube channel, counting down to Thursday's release. Take a look at today's "One Day to Go" teaser:
The release is timed to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Red Nose Day, an annual fundraiser organized by the U.K charity Comic Relief, reports MTV. "All proceeds from the sales of the Blondie cover will go to the organization and help those affected by famine in Africa," MTV adds.
One Direction has added a unique twist to the Blondie classic, blending it with their own version of "Teenage Kicks." According to MTV, the band's manager and creator Simon Cowell suggested the combination.
"It was Simon Cowell that came up with the idea," producer Julian Bunetta told MTV. "It's a really cheeky song and it's very fun...And I think he wanted to do something that was out of the ordinary that people wouldn't expect."
As of Wednesday afternoon, over 2.8 million fans had viewed the YouTube teaser videos, and many Directioners could hardly contain their excitement.
"Cannot wait!! Ahhhhh!! *tries to breathe*" commented one YouTube fan. "This is too much suspense for me to handle," said another. And another swooned over Harry Styles, saying, "I fainted at the end...My hubby, so back off!"
One Direction's latest album Take Me Home charted worldwide and sold 540,000 copies in its first week, according to Billboard.
