"La Tempestad" is one of the most anticipated telenovelas of 2013. William Levy, fresh off his celebrity turn in "Dancing with the Stars" in 2012, will headline an all-star cast that includes Daniela Romo, Cesar Evora, and former Miss Universe Ximena Navarrete. The last few weeks have been dominated by rumors about who would be the new female lead and little was said about the main star of the show: Levy himself. With the announcement of Navarrete's participation, the spotlight has returned to the star actor. And he used it to make a major announcement on his performance.
According to Levy, the actor will have a new hairdo for the role. In the telenovela Levy plays Damian Fabre, the captain of a ship. "I think that we will look for an unshaven look since the character spends most of his time at sea and doesn't really take too much care of his look," said Levy. Regarding his hair he added, "We are still working on that."
Levy announced on Twitter that Fabre was his favorite role ever; he came to the conclusion after reading the first 12 episodes for the new telenovela.
The casting of the female lead took months with such actresses as Silvia Navarro, Sandra Echeverria, Angelique Boyer, Myriam Abreu, and even Levy's girlfriend Elizabeth Gutierrez being mentioned as potential candidates. According to the telenovela's producer Salvador Mejia, the decision on choosing Navarrete came down to "the tenderness, the love, the charisma, chemistry, and acting."
The other major cast members in the novela include Daniela Romo, Diana Brach, and Cesar Evora. Romo has acted in eight films, 15 telenovelas, and 24 albums and was recently seen in "Que Bonito Amor." Évora's has done 10 movies and 27 telenovelas throughout his career, including five soap operas since 2011. His most recent work includes the villainous role of Dionisio Ferrer in "Amor Bravio" as well supporting roles in "Abismo de passion" and "Triunfo Del Amor." Diana Brach has made films since 1949 when she was just five years of age. Her telenovela resumé includes 26 different shows including "Rafaela," "Locas del Amor," and "Fuego en la Sangre."
