The new 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is now faster and sleeker thanks to a new design and an upgraded drivetrain.
The all-aluminum 2.0-liter four-cylinder from its predecessor is now turbocharged with a 53 percent larger intercooler that enables the Genesis to pump out 274 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque.
All of those adjustments add up to an increase of 64 horsepower and 52 pound-feet of torque from the previous Genesis Coupe.
The addition of the twin-scroll turbocharged engine and dual continuously variable valve timing means that the newest edition of Hyundai's sports car's maximum torque comes in at 2000 rpm.
And the thrill of the new Genesis can be heard both inside and outside of the car as well.
"Under hard throttle, the exhaust emits a mild mid-range honk that climbs in pitch with acceleration," Car and Driver reports. "Outside of the car the tone is even more raucous, and should be music to the ears of any remaining members of the Fast and Furious club."
The six-cylinder direct-injected engine pumps 348 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, defeating the Infiniti G37 and BMW 335i in that category.
Hyundai has also made some improvements to the interior of the coupe with faux stitching and sports seats that now come standard in all models of the Genesis coupe, as well as Bluetooth.
Pricing for the 2013 Genesis Coupe starts at $24,250.
