The 2014 Chevrolet SS has undergone a performance makeover, making this full-size sedan worthy of the racetrack where it made its debut at the Daytona International Speedway.
Many transformations have been made in the new SS model, including an eight-cylinder engine and rear-wheel drive.
"The all-new Chevrolet SS fill that void and fill it better than any other vehicle in the brand's rich history," said Mark Reuss, president of General Motors North America. "The comfort, convenience, spaciousness and V8 power make the SS a total performance package unlike any other on the road today."
And speaking of performance, a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine that pumps 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque beats under the hood of the new 2014 SS that can get from zero to 60 mph in an estimated five seconds, according to Chevrolet.
The addition of rear-wheel drive will ensure a thrilling driving experience that can handle all the power added to the SS.
And for an even sportier ride, Brembo brakes, MacPherson strut front and independent multi-link rear suspension will join the party.
There are also some exciting improvements as far as the cabin is concerned, including Chevy's infotainment system MyLink, a Bose nine-speaker audio system, a color heads-up display and a rear-view camera. And what makes it even better is that all of those trappings come standard with the SS.
As if the SS wasn't jam-packed enough with exciting trimmings, the new model will also be the first Chevy to offer a parking assistant system. Park Assist allows the driver to parallel park without even touching the wheel.
Sales of the 2014 Chevrolet SS, or Super Sport, are expected to begin later in the year with pricing to be announced closer to the sale date.
