The much anticipated HTC One smartphone (née M7) will be revealed today, at a global launch event at 10 a.m. EST. Check below for links to live coverage and blogs.
On Tuesday morning, a pic of the HTC One leaked, showing the phone in both black and silver versions.
"The images, which look like something plucked from an HTC official splash page, confirm a lot of what we've seen earlier about the device," writes TechCrunch.
"It'll have just a home and back hardware button, for instance, and Sense is getting a makeover with what looks like a focus on a live tile style interface that grabs content from your social networks, apps and media libraries. The image also shows we'll be seeing HTC's now familiar Beats audio integration on the new handset, reinforces the strongly iPhone 5-like appearance of the case design with its rear top and bottom 'windows' and chamfered edges, and gives us a glimpse at how a phone's camera library might be organized around events."
"Finally, there appears to be some kind of music player that pulls in photos related to what you're playing, maybe for docked playback."
Earlier rumors of stereo speakers seem to be confirmed, as both left and right speakers can be seen on the press photo.
Most industry analysts say the launch event today will be a turning point for HTC -- either it will make a comeback with impressive new devices, or it continues its tailspin and cedes much of its business to Samsung and other more aggressive Android device manufacturers.
"HTC has fallen a long way from being market leaders in the Android world. A return to its former glory rests on the HTC One, and it will only be a few short hours before we know whether this device can carry the burden or not," writes Android Authority.
"The fight for dominance in the Android world is getting worse, and if the HTC One proves unworthy, it may well be "One and done" for the company. I thought 2012 was the comeback year for HTC, but I was wrong. Here's to hoping that I've got it right this time around."
