Sony's new flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z, has been making a splash (literally) in the tech world. As the handset makes its European debut, Sony has released some ads showcasing the rather magical capabilities of the smartphones 13.1-megapixel camera.
A little over a week ago, the Sony Xperia Z made its worldwide debut in Japan, Sony's home turf. Sony's France store is now also selling the handset for €649. This price is for a carrier-free handset, and gives buyers a 5-inch 1080p smartphone with some nifty features.
The smartphone will also be landing on German retail stores' shelves on Feb. 21, and in Ireland and Finland a week later.
For starters, the Xperia Z is waterproof, meaning this smartphone will be able to take pictures underwater. The handset's camera is one of its main selling points, and Sony has decided to capitalize on its ability with this:
That's not all, however. The Xperia Z's camera has consistently proven itself in tests, where low-light videos turn out much better on Sony's smartphone that competing device. It has also a pretty impressive rapid-fire burst shot mode that is sure to keep camera enthusiasts occupied for a while. If anything, it's one hardy phone, operating through water, dust, and ink.
The Xperia Z also comes with a quad-core Snapdragon S4 and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Sony is expected to roll out an Android 4.2 update soon, however, to keep the handset up to date against upcoming competitors like the HTC One and Samsung's Galaxy S4.
Will you be picking up the Sony Xperia Z when it becomes available for purchase in your region? Or are you looking forward to another handset?
