Unfortunately, for fans of Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm who have been playing the public beta recently, Blizzard plans to end the beta on March 1. Luckily, they'll have to wait less than two weeks before the full release of the game hits shelves.

Blizzard plans to launch Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm on March 12, according to Joystiq. The game is the second in a three-part series sequel to the popular original. The plot of Heart of the Storm begins in 2506, two years after the events of the previous sequel installment, StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty, and focuses on the Zerg race and, in particular, protagonist, anti-hero, and Zerg Queen Sarah Kerrigan.

She begins a quest to reunite the Zerg, after they've split into factions since she's been out of her leadership role. While she fights to regain control of various factions, the Dominion is attempting to eradicate the Zerg on Char. The new game will come with a new feature in single-player mode called "Evolution Missions." These are little extra-story missions that unlock for each Zerg unit which eventually lead to a permanent upgrade option, hence "evolution." These missions will allow players to understand what various upgrades are right for them before making an irreversible decision in the campaign.

Kerrigan will be prominently featured in the new Starcraft 2 game, according to Joystiq: "It became more and more obvious as we were playing through that she was a big part of the story, even more so than Raynor was," said Dustin Browder, lead designer for Starcraft. "We've been doing everything we possibly can think of to push her agenda, her presence."

Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm will be released for Windows and Mac on March 12.
