50 Shades of Grey has some new competition. A new erotic novel, Beautiful Bastard, was released Tuesday and has already risen to number four on Amazon's Contemporary Women's Fiction list.
Beautiful Bastard, written by Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings under the pen name Christina Lauren, has a lot in common with 50 Shades, reports International Business Times. For one thing, they both began as Twilight fan fiction. Also, they both feature relationships between a domineering male entrepreneur and an intelligent but inexperienced younger female counterpart. And, they both have plenty of steamy sex scenes.
Here is Amazon's summary of Beautiful Bastard:
"Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills only has one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He's exacting, blunt inconsiderate -- and completely irresistible...Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family's massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who'd been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative -- completely infuriating -- creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he's never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe's so tempting he's willing to bend the rules -- or outright smash them -- if it means he can have her."

Earlier this week, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Constantin Film has acquired the movie rights to the book, which only hit the shelves a few days ago. Details of the deal were not announced, but THR reports that "the company paid a mid-six-figure fee for the option."
