'Game of Thrones' actor Peter Dinklage is officially joining the cast of the new "X-Men" movie, "Days of Future Past." The casting decision was confirmed by director Bryan Singer through a tweet sent out in the early hours of Thursday.
"Officially like to welcome #PeterDinklage from #GameOfThrones to #XMen #DaysofFuturePast Very very excited!" the director wrote.
The New Jersey native will be joining an all-star cast, including Hugh Jackman ("Les Miserables"), Jennifer Lawrence ("Silver Linings Playbook") and Patrick Stewart ("Star Trek"), the Los Angeles Times reported. According to the BBC, Matthew Vaugh, who directed the last "X-Men" film, will be co-writing "Days of Future Past."
What role Dinklage will play remains unclear. According to the LA Times, some are speculating that he may play super-powered dwarf, Puck, who is part of the Canadian superhero team Alpha Flight.
The "X-Men" franchise has created several films, including the 2009 Wolverine spin-off. The follow-up, "The Wolverine," will follow Hugh Jackman as he travels to Japan to train with a Samurai warrior, the BBC reported. The film is due to hit theaters in July 2013.
Dinklage recently won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his role as Tyrion Lannister in HBO's hit series "Game of Thrones."
"X-Men: Days of Future Past" is expected to hit theaters in 2014.
