Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were at the center of a security breach at JFK airport on Tuesday, but the incident was not the couple's fault, according to the Associated Press.
Kim and Kanye stopped in New York on their way back from a vacation in Brazil. They were running a little late for their connecting flight to Los Angeles, and an airport greeter at JFK allowed them to bypass a "key security checkpoint" so they could reach their flight more quickly, says TMZ.
The JFK worker "escorted the two travelers through a non-public area," the TSA told TMZ. "In doing so, the airline employee violated security protocols."
"This was a lapse in judgment by one of our employees," a representative from American Airlines added in a statement provided by E! Online. "We're working closely with the Transportation Security Administration and speaking to the individuals involved to better understand what happened."

Once Kim and Kanye had boarded the plane, a TSA agent found what had happened and pulled them off the flight so they could be privately screened.
The flight was apparently delayed for about an hour-but, says TMZ, the delay wasn't just caused by Kim and Kanye. American Airlines told the website that "It was delayed in part...because a number of connecting bags were delayed getting to the aircraft."
According to TMZ, the couple was greeted by a "gaggle of paparazzi" when they arrived in L.A.
