With the upcoming HTC live event scheduled for February 19 in both London and New York City, a lot of rumors have been circulating in the blogosphere about HTC's possible new smartphone. HTC's new webpage for the event, which is up now, hints that the rumors are right.
For a few months now, rumors of a new HTC flagship handset have been all over the Internet, speculating on what it might be called, what it might look like, and, of course, the all-important rumored technical specs for the device, which bloggers have been calling the HTC M7 for months.
The biggest story from the last week has been seemingly a change of name, from the M7 to the HTC One. Several pieces of evidence - device IDs embedded in computer code, a Twitter leak by a reliable HTC insider, and a video of HTC CEO Peter Chou chanting both "HTC M7"and "HTC One" at the HTC Year End Party.
Now this HTC website features a countdown to the February 19 event. The special thing about this countdown is that every time the digits hit "1," that digit is highlighted and you get a little teaser of what the new device looks like. Slashgear found a YouTube video assembling all of the short glimpses into one video, which is below.
As you can see, there's a lot of lens flare going on, obscuring any clear view of the device. But come next Tuesday, it's looking like we'll all get a good look at, what I'm now growing more confident in calling the "HTC One."
