Beyonce opened up about family and fame in the March issue of Vogue. In an extensive interview with Vogue's Jason Gay, the singer revealed intimate details about the experience of childbirth and how motherhood has changed her.
She said that at first, the unpredictability of pregancy scared her because she is used to controlling the important events in her life, but when she gave birth, "everything that scared me was just not present in that room," she said. "So for me to really let go and really appreciate every contraction...it was the best day of my life."

She added that her deep connection with her daughter Blue Ivy Carter began before she gave birth.
"I felt very maternal around eight months," she told Gay. "And I thought I couldn't become any more until I saw the baby...But it happened during my labor because I had a very strong connection with my child. I felt like when I was having contractions, I envisioned my child pushing through a very heavy door...We were talking. I know it sounds crazy, but I felt a communication."
Beyonce said that giving birth made her understand the power of her body in a new way, and to more fully embrace her femininity. "I just feel my body means something completely different. I feel a lot more confident about it," she said. "Even being heavier, thinner, whatever. I feel a lot more like a woman. More feminine, more sensual. And no shame."
Beyonce, who has received 45 Grammy nominations, added another Grammy to her collection Sunday night for her hit song "Love On Top," marking her seventeenth win.
