While Apple's upcoming iPhones and iPads grab most of the hype, there's an avenue of technology that Apple is working on what could be the next step beyond - wearable computing. Apple has long been rumored to be working on an "iWatch," and two new reports state that Apple is indeed testing out such a device.
Both the New York Times and The Wall Street Journal published reports that Apple is in the process of developing an iWatch that would utilize the iOS platform.
"In its headquarters in Cupertino, Calif., Apple is experimenting with wristwatch-like devices made of curved glass, according to people familiar with the company's explorations, who spoke on the condition that they not be named because they are not allowed to publicly discuss unreleased products," Nick Bilton writes in the New York Times.
The curved nature of the glass, to contour around the wrist, will set it apart from competitors, the report goes on to say.
The Wall Street Journal concurs, saying that "people briefed on the effort" confirmed that a watch-like device is in the works.
Apple hasn't yet commented on the rumors just yet, and it most likely won't until the device is actually revealed that any official details come out.
This isn't the first we've heard of the iWatch. A leak at the end of 2012 revealed that Apple was working with Intel on an iOS watch that would have a 1.5-inch screen and release in 2013.
Which wearable computing device would be more appealing to you? Google's Glasses, or an Apple iWatch?
