The Academy Awards producers have announced that Dame Shirley Bassey will perform at the Oscars. Additionally they have announced that "The Avengers" stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo and Samuel L. Jackson will present.
Bassey is best known for her James Bond Songs "Goldfinger," "Moonraker" and "Diamonds are Forever." Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron stated "We are thrilled to welcome the legendary Dame Shirley Bassey to our Oscar show." They added "Her association with film music is world renowned and we are proud that she will be making her first Oscar appearance on our telecast."
The news comes with the announcement that 'Avengers' stars Ruffalo, Downey Jr., Jackson and Renner will present a category at the Academy Awards. Zadan and Meron stated that "Audience who enjoyed the year's biggest box office hit will be excited to see these terrific actors back together again."
Zadan and Meron also announced that Charlize Theron, Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Daniel Radcliffe would make special appearances. They stated "We are quite excited to have Charlize, Chan, Joe and Dan join us on the show." They added "We are happy to feature them as special guests in our production."
The aforementioned stars join last year's Oscar winners Meryl Streep, Christopher Plummer, Jean Dujardin and Octavia Spencer as presenters. Bassey becomes the latest singer added to the roster. Adele, Norah Jones, and Barbara Streisand have already been tapped to perform at the show.
The Academy Awards will be held on Feb.24 and telecast worldwide.
